I guess this would be easier to do if you had a larger property to store an extra car, but I remember some people buying a disabled car for parts to put onto their main vehicle.

Do you think people are still doing this these days?

We have done it. But it is usually when we run across someone that is junking the car anyway. It has saved us money in the past.

Well I am planning to sell out one of my car in similar way, I am sure that it would be very expensive to get it repaired so I might sell it to someone for just the parts in the vehicle. At least I am sure to get some amount after sale.

If the timing works out and you can find someone who's interested in your car, I think you may definitely get more money for it than trading it in.

Hopefully storage isn't a problem.

My car is lying in the parking lot for almost 6 months now and it seems to be costing really high for getting it repaired and so I preferred to sell it off in parts, that would make good money, I was able to find some people locally preferring to give good amount for few parts, that makes me feel a bit better.

Yes, you did get more for junking it if you part it out. Now that the price of steel is up though it would be good to take the parts out and store them and take the body to the junkyard.
