I know this may be a crazy question, but after doing a search on
autotrader.com, We've found what we've been looking for. Problem is -
it's at a dealer half way across the country. Other than flying
there and bringing it back ourselves, do the dealers have any other
means of transporting used vehicles? I really don't think I could
trust purchasing a vehicle 'sight-unseen', but I'm wondering if it
could possibly - just possible work.
Thanks so much. You all have been so helpful in answering my
questions.

Yes, try http://www.autotrans-express.com/ enclosed transport is the safest
and most expensive, many Seller's on Ebay use them. A median range coast to
coast open transport is about $1000.
I have bought vehicles through Ebay around a maximum of 900 miles from home.
I took my laptop and bid AFTER checking the vehicle out first. Checking the
vehicle condition before purchasing IS A MUST !! Different states can
create problems, I have heard that Maryland requires the sale be completed
IN that state, check your DMV before purchasing out of state.

You'll like this!

I have three Honda's.

My '89 CRX I bought in West Virginia.
My '90 CRX I bought in Texas.
My '99 CR-V I bought in Kentucky.

I live in Kentucky - did when I purchased each of these.

On the '90 CRX, my most recent purchase, the car was in San Antonio. I had a
training seminar that I needed to go to, and it was offered in Dallas. I flew
to San Antonio, at company expense, got the car (photos were available on
internet, and I had been keeping up with this car for several years - but,
that's another story,) drove to Dallas, did my 4-day class, then drove it back
at company expense!

Some things just work out -- sometimes!!

I remember your rare prestine 90 CRX yellow SI purchase. If you want a car
of that quality and low mileage, most likely you ALWAYS have to travel to
find one.
Nice purchase!!
