I just ordered body side cladding (the parts) for my new ex ... the
dealership is top drawer and they have an excellent service
department, who will install it when they come in ... has anyone ever
experienced any trouble with this (i.e. panels falling off/not
adhereing) etc.? ... ... its an accessory that we've always wanted
with the car and thought that, while its still new, its a good time
to install it.

Thanks. Harry

My opinion aside, no one bothered to absorb the main reason to avoid
plastic cosmetic cladding. The fact that I think looks bad is irrelevant.

Cladding traps grime behind it, no matter how well installed, and eats
the sheetmetal. And it's not going to change the structural integrity
of the doors at all.
This is the same basic reason I dont use a spare tire cover. The spare
is not only checked regularly without a cover on it, but stays clean,
and fresh, rather than coated with a layer of destructive muck that
eats the rubber.

BAD idea Looks fake, cos it is, and just accelerates the body
rusting through.

Cladding is for whimps who want to LOOK like they off road, but dont.
Same thing as grill guards, and light cages on SUV's. Lame

I bet you bought a hard tire cover too.

... well ... at 52 I am well past the time in my life when I would
want to appear to be something or someone that I am not ... I know
that the cladding is not "functional", but I'm getting it put on,
frankly, because I like the way it looks and - at the risk of you
poking fun at me even more - because it will add a little weight to
the doors, which I find to be a bit light compared to all of my
previous cars ... to each his own, I guess ...

Harry,

You need to ignore idiots that label "lame" what they
do not like. He can not make fun of you, he simply
demonstrates ti the rest of us his lack of
intelligence.

Mr. CRVOwner,

If I want to be really butch like yourself, what do you recommend for
off-roading that doesn't fall into the wimp category?

Sincerly,

Wimp with inferiority complex
