Has anyone noticed how Honda dealerships seem to be really pushing
this system? We have 3 dealerships in the local area that advertise
the "Bilstein Engine Flush" system heavily and how it should be done
once a year (99.00 special usually).

I know it's not really necessary, but I was wondering if Honda North
America had some sort of deal going with Bilstein. I guess it's no
harm to really clean out every trace of old oil from your engine, but
changing oil every 3 months should be good enough. I guess if the
process was only an extra 10 or 20 bucks, I'd probably bite.
Take care,
David

Good point, David! I have not heard of this from my Honda dealer here in
Saskatoon, though it may be on its way. I used to purchase a can of
engine flush chemical and do my own engine flush about once a year. Then
I started using synthetic lubricants and stopped using flushes. I also
learned that some engines do not completely drain during an oil change
(some oil stays in upper compartments in some vehicles - sort of like
how the torque converter in automatic transmissions holds tranny fluid
even when the tranny is drained, or so I am told by my favorite
mechanic), and that a person should be sure to check it out for their
particular vehicle, otherwise there is a potential for damage. I will be
watching to see if my Honda dealer comes out with this recommendation,
and will let you know when it does.
