I know this isn't a high end topic of performance, but I think it could become more important later this year.

Today in the media I heard predictions that gas would be $1.30 a litre.

Don't you think that gas mileage will cause some American made SUV drivers to reconsider their rides in favour of more efficient cars?

The prices of gas have reached heights. It is unbelievable to see the drastic rises. I remember when the price was $1.97 per gallon and now in our area it is $3.11 per gallon. It affects every person who drives not just SUV but RV too which take up most of the gas that I heard of.

I don't know what the percentage of foreign sales is, but I'd say it's not only Americans driving American made SUVs. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/57.gif)

So I guess the Smart car isn't available in the US, then? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

I already purchased a car due to it's better mileage (not a hybrid, but better than what I was driving).

I hear you. That was part of the reason we bought the new Civic back in 89.

Since then, my wife has had a couple of Saturns, partly for the safety features on them.

I stick with a compact car that gets decent mileage. I never understood why people would want to pay more for gas when they could have an efficient vehicle instead. I would love a hybrid, but I am working on paying off my current vehicle.
