I love Passports and used to love driving my friend's whenever he was in town. I was thinking of getting a 2nd car but then I was told that Passports are not safe and are prone to flip? I looked this up and couldn't find any information that backs that up. Has anyone else heard of this or had any "safety" issues ?

I ran a quick search and didn't see anything about them flipping? I am not to sure. I do like them though.

I did a search too and couldn't pull up any results either. They are so fun, but safety comes first! I am beginning to think maybe it was just a rumor.

Did you check out Consumer Reports website? I completely forgot about their website but they might have checked into the safety at one time.

I went to Consumer Reports and they wanted me to pay to see the information. Maybe someday in the future I may, but for now I will keep on searching and if nothing yields I am gonna assume that that may have just been a nasty rumor started by people who have a vendetta against SUVS (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) .

I wonder if it's possible that whoever told you that was confusing Passports with other small SUVs. I think it was the Suzuki Samurai that had problems with flipping, that was a much lighter car. When I was looking to buy a used car in 2006, I didn't see any information about Passports being prone to flip over.

I know that Honda Passport safety should be an important consideration in your vehicle purchase. An important factor to consider for Honda Passport safety should be crash test results which are conducted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Institute and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety(IIHS). NHTSA is actually part of the U.S. federal government and is overseen by the U.S. Department of Transportation. The organization rates vehicles on how well they protect drivers and passengers during frontal and side-impact collisions, as well as during rollovers. Performance is judged through a five-star system, with five being the best. If NHTSA crash results are available, you can view them below. IIHS is a non-profit organization funded by auto insurers. The IIHS performs various tests on vehicles, including frontal offset tests. Reviewing crash results when considering Honda Passport safety should be helpful in your purchasing decision. IIHS test results can be viewed at their website (http://www.iihs.org/).

Hope this helps!
