I have an 01 Civic Coupe and have a small question about the air con. Is it supposed to come on continuosly or in waves? Mine will come on really cold for 10 seconds then go off then come on again? Is it normal?Based in UK Although car was manufactured State side.

Sounds like a potential problem with the amount of refrigerant in the system. There is a pressure switch in the system which switches the compressor off when the high side pressure goes too high. If you have too much refrigerant the system will cycle continuously.

I have had my aircon serviced, the tech said the gas was on the low side, so it's been cleaned and refilled. So far so good.
