question.

the second gen Si (91 Si): is the air conditioner optional? it says so in the user's manual. if you don't have the A/C button, then i gather that means you don't have A/C? or is it one of those things where you can just turn the temp dial all the way to cold and the A/C comes on automatically?

so basically i'm trying to figure out if i have A/C in my car or not. along the row of environmental control buttons, the last one should be the A/C button, but it is blank on my dash. does this mean i have no A/C or is the button just optional? (which does seem ridiculous)

thanks!
ps if i don't have A/C, then does that mean my car is lighter than your usual CRX Si?

Look under your hood. There is several tell tale signs of A/C. First in the front you will have two cooling fans. One is because a single fan is not strong enough or does not draw enough air to keep the coolant and the freon cool enough. Also on the front of the engine ( that is the far right of the engine) you should see the compressor. Look for 2 belts coming off the harmonic balancer. One to the rear to the altenator and one to the front to the compressor.
As for if the car is lighter, Yes it is by about a hundred or so pounds. If you want to see exactly how much your car weighs, you can look for a truck stop with a CAT Scales. I paid 7 dollars to get my car weighed.
Glenn
