Hello All,
I was wonderin g if anyone has come across the problem of engine vibration and misfiring on their Odyssey.
It worked fine the day before but when I started it today it was misfiring and vibarting like a rocker arm was broken.
Any hints would be gretaly appreciated, thanks in advance.

I wonder why it would be just fine one day and not the next? This seems very strange. I would take it to a mechanic. Best wishes.

That is your response? I thought the whole reason of this forum was to get some idea of what symptoms might be?
I guess your thought of going to a mechanic is your answer to all problems beyond your comprehension?

Sorry man, my intentions were good. I am simply a stay at home mom shopping for a new Odyssey and when I read your post, I considered finding my Odyssey misfireing and vibrating- I would be shocked. I replied out of care and compassion. I hope you find the expert advise you seek. Peace.

Hi Bill, I'm trying to work through the same problem myself. Same situation as you. Fall 07 I had misfires, over winter the problem seemed to self correct and now in Spring it's back again. The code I get is a misfire of a cylinder. I've tried new plugs, no luck. I've tried swapping ignition coils on the missing plug (if it's the ignition coil, then the cylinder I put it on should misfile), but the coils were fine.

Another person I talked to said it's a distributorless system (not sure how true this is), and the cause is likely the wireharness that feeds the coils. Since this part is dealer only and runs around $500, I wanted to rule everything out first.

Since it has been 6 months since your last post, did you find a solution?

I hate to say it, but guys over hear who have had cracked cylinder liners experience similar problems. The car seems to run fine except at idle or low revs where it shakes, missfires etc. But in their case, the cars overheated as a result of coolant vapour escaping into the combustion chamber via the crack (and nobody seems to know exctly how the crack appears). Does your car overheat?

But before I'd panic I would have them replace the HT & plug leads set, and replace the coil pack in the bad cylinder.

Not sure what the SC does in the way of electrics/timing etc but could it be that?
