I own a 99 cr-v with about 70,000 miles. About a month ago my cr-v began stalling when it was cold. I would start the engine, and when I would reach a stop sign it would stall. Over the past month it has become worse, having the tendency to stall now if put in drive. I took it to the dealership and they suggested that a replace the pcv valve. Knowing how wasy this is, I told the service man that I would do it myself. About 10 minutes later I received a phone call from the dealership informing me that they had found another problem, and that I now needed a valve adjustment. Feeling that I was being schemed, I told him that I would do it myself, and left it at that. After speaking to mechanic relatives/friends I came to the conclusion that the valve adjustment was a way to make some money. I purchased the PCV valve and replaced it and it did not fix the problem. Last night, my check engine light came on...
So here are all of the symptoms
-stalling when put in drive, and stops stalling after driving about 2 mile (it will even stall if I crank the steering wheel in park!)
-Idles really low... When stopping, the rpm's bottom out and it feels as though the car is going to stall. This does not stop.
-Lost about 20-25 mile per tank.
-Check engine light is on.
I have replaced the PCV valve, as well as the fuel filter. I do not trust the dealership. Can anyone help me!!!!!!!!!!!!!
