I am a new member to this group. I have a question about the engine
oil requirement for my new 2003 Honda CRV. Is it mandatory to put
5-20W oil for the CRV or can we go with 5-30W.

I read an article about engine wear and tear problems with 5-20W oil.

I would appreciate your thoughts about this.

thanks,

Basavaraju.

I am using 5W-30 Mobil1 myself in my 2002 CRV-EX and have had the dealer
install it as well.

If I remember correctly the manual specifies it as an alternate viscosity.
