Apologies if this information can be found in the archives somewhere.... but here goes: OK, the stock speakers on my '93 4th Gen Prelude have finally given up the ghost. They now pop, rattle and blow, especially when I play my Metallica CDs! I'm looking to get some replacement speakers as a Christmas present to myself. Can anyone confirm the speaker diameters front and back? I went to a car stereo place in the my city (Nottingham), and they said that it is very difficult to put new speakers into the 4th Gen 'Lude, since lots of panelling needs to be removed to install the rear speakers. Because of this, they have quoted me ?100 for labour on top of the cost of the speakers. This sounds a little steep to me. Any thoughts guys and girls? Can anyone suggest anywhere cheaper? Any recommendations for types of speaker to buy? They must be able to cope with anything from Albinoni's Adagio, to Dire Straits, to Gary Moore, to Counting Crows, to Megadeth and Carcass! Thanks in advance for your help! Steve.

What a load of crap! The back speakers are easier to do than the fronts! The standard size for the rears is 13cm but, you can also fit 16s and if you want to spend about 1 hour making a 20mm deep template (And have suitable 6x9s) you can also install some 6x9s into the rear shelf - No cutting of the shelf or metal underneath. The fronts are 10cm standard and are slightly odd as they are a 3 screw fitting, but you may notice that this 3 screw fitting is screwed into another housing with 4 screws, guess what, take out the metal 3 screw bit and some 13s will go into the standard housing - I think (Not tried though) if you take out the standard plastic housing you could probably get 16s in there. Spend as much as your budget will allow on decent speakers (Assuming you aren't running the standard HU) - Installation is easy and you don't need to pay for it.
