Why are you people so afraid that someone is going to still your HID System? I am just curious about it.

Like the airbags of the 90s, HIDs have become a target for parts theives in many areas of the country. Unlike the theft of the airbags, though, the amoung of collateral damage can be significant. The punk is probably not going to use authorized tools and procedures, he's going to use a crowbar or sawz-all, so you can count on a ruined bumper and maybe fender damage as well. -dave diego

Actually, I was a witness to the after-effects. I dropped my TL off at the dealership for a service and there, before my eyes, was the result of some impromptu surgery to get at the HIDs. It looked like the theives had chewed the lights out. The mechanic suspected that they had used a tool of opportunity, a cordless drill and the largest bit they could find, which looked like a 1.5" that you would use to create a hole in a door for a doorknob! 5 or 6 holes surrounding the perimeter of the HIDs, bumper and fender included. They couldn't have done more damage if they went in through the trunk... death is too good for them...
