From the day I bought my CR-V it has had a moderate to severe pull
to the right on acceleration. I thought it was a front end
alignment problem and bought the vehicle because salesman said they
would fix it. After a front end aligment it still pulled. Then
(after I bought it) they told me that they had consulted there
factory tech-line and they said this was ther mormal charactierstic
of a front wheel drive vehcile. I have driven many front wheel
drive vehicles and none of them pulled any where near like my CR-V
if they pulled at all. If this is how the vehicle performs then why
didn't they tell me this when I told them it pulled at purchase
time. The car dealer has written me off and I am now dealing withe
Honda Motor CO. Inc. Is anyone else out there experiencing anything
like this.

Congratulations on the new CRV. A 2003 sounds great....but not if it
pulls to the right.

My 1st generation (98) CRV has been fine and doesn't exhibit any sign
of pulling to the right at startup. However, I've seen it discussed at
length on some forums.

Here's a thread about a 2002 you might find interesting...
http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/honda-crv/message/3040

...actually the way the messages are linked, it's easier to start with
the last message and use "up thread" to follow it back. Here's the end
message:
http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/honda-crv/message/3984

Many people attribute it to torque steering, which, as you mentioned,
can be a common problem with front wheel drive cars. Some said it was
alignment, some said tires. In the end, a 4-wheel alignment and moving
the tires around solved the problem for this particular owner.

This same thread has a message which had numerous links to related
information on another forum. Take a look at:
http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/honda-crv/message/3979

One of the links is a must read. It's a 2000, but the excuses the
dealership made and the owner's responses are classic. My favorite was
the dealership saying it was a safety feature...the owner asked if the
CRVs in Australia were designed to pull to the left. For them, the
solution was getting the alignment right. Here it is:
http://forums.vmag.com/suvcrv0999/messages/4110.html

I found one which was seriously scary. It talks about an alignment shop
which uses a "come-a-long" to yank things into alignment. It's about a
2001. Hopefully it won't come to something like this to fix your 2003...
http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/honda-crv/message/4009

Best of luck with it.

There is a Honda Service Bulletin: 03-004 (dated Jan 21,2003)
that deals with "right pull" -- the TSB refers to "upper spring seat
angle being incorrect" on a number of vehicles.
