Congratulations on the new CRV. A 2003 sounds great....but not if it
pulls to the right.
My 1st generation (98) CRV has been fine and doesn't exhibit any sign
of pulling to the right at startup. However, I've seen it discussed at
length on some forums.
Here's a thread about a 2002 you might find interesting...
http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/honda-crv/message/3040...actually the way the messages are linked, it's easier to start with
the last message and use "up thread" to follow it back. Here's the end
message:
http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/honda-crv/message/3984Many people attribute it to torque steering, which, as you mentioned,
can be a common problem with front wheel drive cars. Some said it was
alignment, some said tires. In the end, a 4-wheel alignment and moving
the tires around solved the problem for this particular owner.
This same thread has a message which had numerous links to related
information on another forum. Take a look at:
http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/honda-crv/message/3979One of the links is a must read. It's a 2000, but the excuses the
dealership made and the owner's responses are classic. My favorite was
the dealership saying it was a safety feature...the owner asked if the
CRVs in Australia were designed to pull to the left. For them, the
solution was getting the alignment right. Here it is:
http://forums.vmag.com/suvcrv0999/messages/4110.htmlI found one which was seriously scary. It talks about an alignment shop
which uses a "come-a-long" to yank things into alignment. It's about a
2001. Hopefully it won't come to something like this to fix your 2003...
http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/honda-crv/message/4009Best of luck with it.
