hi,, this is my first. I have been having trouble with a grinding sound from under the car intermittently for about a month. i narrowed it down to either the drive line or the rear brakes. the smell tells me that its the drum brakes since that is what it smells like if you leave the hand brake on and drive with it on. i didnt know that the cr-v had a combo drum/disc in the rear but i am sure that is what the problem is. is this a common problem? i am yet to take off the drum/disk to see what is under there. i also found out that the hand brake wasnt working so i adjusted it so it would work and today the sound came back half way down the road a little worse than ever before. has anyone ever heard of this happening to another cr-v or maybe another car?
