Hi,

I recently bought a 2001 CR-V with 11,000 miles on it. It drives
like a dream, and I really love it. There is one thing that bothers
me though, I've noticed that after the engine has warmed up a bit,
you can hear a little bit of lifter noise at idle (at least I think
that's what it is). Are all of the CR-V's like this, or should I
have it looked at by the dealer?

Do they give you any hassle about the warranty if you weren't the
original purchaser of the car? I've only got about 13,000 miles on
it now.

Any comments would be appreciated,

Mark

Doesn't sound serious but as usual it is always safe to let the dealer check
it out, especially before it is 12 months old or 12K miles which ever comes
first. That first year, they'll replace/fix mostly anything FREE of
charge!!, that goes for all makes and models.

I do know a case where a guy burned the clutch up in 7k miles on a Chevy
S-10. The dealer refused to repair that free of charge due to excessive
abuse of the vehicle.

Another case was a snapped timing belt on a Mitsubishi Eclipse with less
than 5K miles, engine destroyed, $4000 dollars to replace. The dealer
refused to repair/replace due to the cars damage occurring at the DRAG
STRIP, and signs of nitrous injection among other mods!!!

isn't a regular valve adjustment recommended on the 01 and older crv? like
30k or so?

I believe that you are correct Eric. The pre 2002's have mech.
lifters not hydraulic like the 2002's and do need to be adjusted once
in a while..

I was just basing the mileage off of my civic which is factory recommended
at 30k intervals.

Eric,

Thanks for the tip. I'll ask the dealer about it when I get the oil
changed. I'm not too worried because the thing runs just great.
Plus, it was in immaculate condition, so I'm pretty sure the previous
owner did hot-rod it or anything.
