Recently my power steering pump went. I was 300 miles from home and had some guys at a small town shop remove the belt so I could drive it home. I had my brother, a mechanic, put in a new pump. This pump sounded horrible. Whining loudly at idle and at average speeds, much quieter at highway speeds. He thought it was due to the wrong power steering fluid (he didn't put in a honda fluid) so I went in to the Honda dealer to have them flush it and put new stuff in. They told me there was something else wrong with the pump and so I had them do diagnostics. They said, "No, it's the pump" so I had him get ANOTHER pump and this one is doing the same thing. I dont think it's the pump. He tightened the belts, put Honda fluid in, bled the air. It's STILL loud and I can feel a slight grind when I turn the wheel. It's so embarassing...people always look at me when I'm at a light because it's loudest at rest. If i pull the wheel hard to the left or right it doesnt make a noise at all.

HELP! Any ideas what else it could be??

Well i feel that the problem is not with the pump but the engine, you should go to show room or the company service centre and ask them the reason.

Hi there the problem what i fell is not of the pump, but can be of the engin e.i had the same problem so it was detected to be of the
engine so you also check your engine.
