I have a 1997 Honda Civic which has automatic transmission. since last month i am having a problem with the transmission ( gear box it seems) , it doesn't change to the OD (5th) after slowing down from 80 KMPH. to be more specific it stays and 80KMPH without any further speeding. but before slowing down it runs over 80KMPH and reaches to 100KMPH without any issues. even if i slow it down to 40KMPH and paddle the gas harder it again runs over 80KMPH. but to be certain once the gear is shift down from 5th to 4th and the speed reduces below 80 KMPH, until the speed level reaches to the 2nd Gear speed or 3rd Gear Speed it doesn't do a speed increase over 80 KMPH with 4th gear. i have consulted many mechanics but they simply are clueless. i just want to know whether i have to replace the gear box or is there a easy way out with less expenditure. any advice will be appreciated. Many Thanx

Hello everyone!

I have a 2001 Honda Civic Ex automatic. It now has 134,426 miles on it. In 2005, when I pressed the gas, the engined revved up but the car only did like 3mph. Thank goodness I was only leaving out of my driveway. I just knew it was my transmission. It turned out to be an electronic positioning sensor, which cost me about $600 because the warranty wouldn't cover the sensor. Now, for the past 2 weeks, it's been making a whistling noise. It's not every single time, but when I press the gas, it hesitates, the engine revs up, and then finally, it JERKS into gear. Eventually I'm going to get whiplash! My husband's cousin has the same year car and she had to get a new transmission last year. I figured I would see how many people are having this problem and, I see there are a lot of people.Cars Layouts

An automatic transmission is very sensitive to the transmission fluid quality and condition. Improper fluid type can damage the transmission.
