Ok...Im a new member here who just came up on a 1993 acura legend coupe with 72K for 10950.Should I buy it? And also...when I test drove it...sounded like a little static from my speakers. Is it better to buy an aftermarket system or to try to go through Acura for and upgrade?
`

I would say run a CARFAX.COM report on ita,nd if it comes up clear, and looks as clean as it should be, GO FOR IT!! COUPES ARE A RARITY!!! And if it has the 6 speed manual, you will be a happy camper! My coupe is an auto, and its a blast, I am looking into getting the swap to the 6 speed

http://clubs.yahoo.com/clubs/legendarylegendz

Ok...I took both pieces of advice...I ran a CarFax report and had an autocritic( one of those mobile guys who run diagnostics on used cars before you buy em.) Anyway..it all came back aces..so I bought it. Still got to decide what to do about the system. I hate to have to tear down the whole Bose system.

You ca nreplace the woofers in the system, but this requires surgery to the housing if you are going to retain the amps on each woofer...if you want to keep the factory radio, and change the speakers this is one option, another is ordering an amp bypass from somewhere like Crutchfiled...this allows you to utilize factory radio, and you can upgrade speakers to higher powered ones that can be either run off an external amp, (best option), or the radio's. Best other bet is to replace the entire system...not too expensive..mine sounds wonderful....make sure that you use a four channel for the internal highs (6 speakers - 2 tweeters by sunroof, 4 6 x 9's), then get an amplified sub (i.e. Bazooka) or a set of subs (2 10" subs work great, along with a dedicated crossover for the amp running subs).

Note, the 2 tweeters in the ceiling are tied into the front speaker's wiring, so you don't have to go searching for the extra wires....:)

Let me know if you need anything else!

http://clubs.yahoo.com/clubs/legendarylegendz
