I'm not a mechanic, just an owner. There is a
problem with all Honda/Acura radiators that use a metal
lower tank, mated to a plastic upper tank like the
Legend uses. This is actually a problem with any
radiator that uses this design, in any car manufacturer
make. It makes sense though, plastic, and metal have a
different expansion rate, and cooling rate. Given this, is
only a matter of time that the bond between the two
will give out. In 94 I believe Honda/Acura claimed to
use a stronger bonding adheasive, or method, but it
only prolongs the inevitable. I have had a 91, 93, and
95 Legend. My current 93, and 95 both had the top
tank crack. I must state though that the crack usually
happens along the seem, and I really have not heard about
it cracking at the filler neck like your situation.
Either way though, if you are not covered under
warranty, I would replce the entire radiator witha full
metal aftermarket OEM replacement. That is what most of
us Legend owners on the "Legend Forums" @
forums.legend.org have done.

As to if the problem has been
addressed? As I stated before, in 94 Honda/Acura claimed to
have a better bond. Other then that, numerous letters
to Acura by members on the forms have come with
responses by Acura that basically state. They will not do
anything about it, nor issue a recall, but if your
indivisual Acura Dealer is willing to "Goodwill" it, that is
your only bet. However, Acura will not require them to
do so. It will be out of the goodness of their
heart. Bottom line, none of us have ever had it
goodwilled that I know of. Get a full metal replacement. You
can ask this same question on the Legend forums I
mentiond above for other owners opnions.

Chris
