My Acura is having radio problems. When I bought
it I was told that the equalizer for the speakers is
located behind the rear seat driver's side.

I also
was told by a radio guy that one equalizer was out
and somebody had connected the front speakers to one
equalizer. The sound volume is down.

Recently I have
had some popping sounds on and off in the back right
speaker and some shshssh noise coming out of the right
front speaker. When this happens the right front
speaker has not sound coming out of it other than ths
shshs noise.

I had a guy look at in in Mexico
and he told me all of the problems I am having are
associated with the equalizers.

He told me that the
parts are expensive from Bosc and are difficult to
find. He is from the US and he says the best thing for
me to do is go to a wrecking yard and extract
equalizers from an Acura that has the Bosc system. He says I
will probably have to pay no more than $30 - I don't
remember if this is for one or for all of them.

To
anybody out there that knows - does this make sense or
should I get a second opinion? He did not jump at the
opportunity to sell me a replacement radio and put it in -
this happens when I go to see people at the local
stereo shops in the the LA area.

The popping sound in the back may be due to a bad
speaker connection, or the Bose Amp. Acura recently
recalled the Bose Amps, you should contact an Acura dealer
to see if you qualify for the free replacement. At
that time you could have them check the front speakers
too. Sounds like it could bad connections. Good luck.

I got a recall notice for my 1991 legend regarding the bose amplifier. Acura is
replacing mine for free. Check with Acura, they should do the same for you.

I also have a 1991 Acura Legend. The sound
quality is poor, especially with AM. Can you provide more
information regarding this recall? Perhaps a technical
bulletin number?

Thanks,
Bob at Pelican Parts
