Dear Fellow Owners, I may have seen a previous posting regarding brake pedal flooring intermittently. I have tried to used the search archive but no luck. My problem started after I had the brake pads replaced at a Goodyear Car Care Center. The pedal intermittently goes all the way down to the floor. At first I thought there could be air in the lines. Brought it back and Goodyear found none. It seems that when the car is driven in traffic stop & go, that's when the brake pedal go to the floor. Any thoughts on why? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. spec

Replace the master cyl. If the pedal goes to the floor once..it is time to replace it. There could be air in the lines, but I doubt it. Unless there is fluid being lost, it is most likely leaking internally. Paul

Paul, thank you for your swift reply.I was also thinking that the master cylinder may be the culprit since I am nearing 200K miles. Great to have acquired your expertise on the subject. alex

I have a similar problem on my 95 Civic, but it only happens in the summer or hot weather. It's happened the past 2 years, and in the winter, or cooler weather, everthing is fine. Is it similar for you?

There is an issue but its hard to nail down. If changing the master diddnt fix this problem then you might want to consider getting softer brake pads. It has been noted this is more common when its hot.

The Thinking : As most will know disc brakes tend to drag a bit by nature and even with the stock pads this can generate a lot of heat in the caliper which in turn boils the fluid in the caliper making it too thin to work very well. Btw while it cost more you should have stuck with original honda pads. I have been hearing that using non honda pads can cause or make this problem worse and eventualy warp the rotor's.

Quick and Easy fix: Request organic pads and bleed out enough brake fluid to get rid of that which was over heated.
Cons: Pads will wear much faster and need to be changed more often.
Other thoughts: This is a good way to get non honda parts and save some money. But most importantly this will keep you and your family safe.
