Hi to all the kind folks who help here. I have a 1987 Accord DX with a 2.0 carburated engine, AT, AC. The car has developed an odd habit of dying out while driving. Prior to this happening the tachometer will fall to zero. The idle speed is around 900 rpm when the car is running. I just had a new carb put on this car and now these other problems have begun. Some friends pulled the fuel pump out of the tank and tested it, worked fine, they put new plugs, cap and rotor, and a different coil, new fuel filters front and rear, drained all the gas and put in new gas. No apparent vacuum leaks. THe car will start after a cool down period and drive for awhile again, then it dies out again. It seems to feel like it is starving for fuel. The car has 161k and has always been a real dependable car for me. I would appreciate any help that may resolve this annoying and quite confusing problem.......Thanks

Sounds like what happened when our ignitor died on our 92. The tach dying is a clue (as the tach gets its input from the ignitor, at least on our 92). Not an expert on 87 models, but that would be the first thing I would check.

Hey, I have then same problem for my Honda Accord DX. Its been doing it for a year and I have tried different things to no avail. I am sure you must have found the problem in your car by now. Please enlighten me. Thank you in advance. Rex
