I recently inherited a 1985 Honda CIVIC sedan from my mother. It's got 151000 miles/246000 kms on the clock, and is in very good condition, with the exception of some rust around the boot and door seals, etc. Ofcourse there is some wear and tear due to its age - dash has cracked (normal for the 3rd gen Civics to do so) and the fabrics have faded from the sun, but mechanically good. [recently replaced CV shafts and outer CV joints] Considering its age, it still manages 97-98 mile 160kmh without took much hesitation --> difficult with a 3 speed semi-auto! My question is whether or not is would be worth doing the car up - ie: turbocharging, aftermarket air induction and exhaust systems sports suspension, etc -thanks is advance

If you are in need of a project. If you want something unique, then yeah, rip out the motor, rip out the old interior and start building it up. Drop in a good motor and add whaterver power adder you want. Redo the interior with new stuff and fix and repaint the exterior and you could have a rippin' one-of-a- kind little sedan that you will never get your money back out of, but that might be loads of fun. However, if you are just wanting to leave things the way they are and do power mods to the existing engine, then imho, unless you need it, sell it! Use what you get for it and buy a little something nice for your other car! Doug

"..worth doing the car up..." Partially I agree - it does depend. What are your goals? Do you want something unique? Fast? or cheap to modify? You actually could have all three, but it would require a lot of fabrication on your part because there isn't a huge aftermarket following for these year civics. If you want something that has a lot of "bolt-ons" and requires little fabrication - go with a 5th gen 92-95. my $.02
