Hello- About a week ago I wrote to the list about a creaking sound that
erupted in the back end of my 2000 CR-V after taking it in for the 15,000
mile service. Every time the car goes over a mild bump at a low speed (up to
about 40 mph) there is a creaking noise that seems to be coming from the
springs. I took the car back in and they lubed everything. Upon a visual
inspection, they said they saw nothing wrong. They suggested that I bring
the car back and leave it for the day and they would look in more detail.
They said they would remove fender panels and look for rubbing parts (this
concerns me). Anyway, my question is whether tightening/adjusting the
emergency brake could cause a squeak in this area of the car. The emergency
brake was noticeably adjusted. Thanks- Lynda

My wife's 98 CRV has all kinds of creaks and rattles. After all,
it's a mini SUV (which translates to mini truck) and trucks rattle.
I'm not sure if the emergency brake would cause this sound and I
wouldn't let them remove panels, they may cause more rattles. How
much do you trust the dealer? You may want to take it to another
dealer and have it checked or an independent garage you trust.
