I would get the 1.8L engine, because the 1.8l engine is around the same
price (i think) and if you just added the JRSC then you would be stuck
at that given hp.. but with the 1.8L GSR, you get higher redline = fun,
and an ability to upgrade even more after by adding JRSC or turbo etc..
but the downside would be finiding a good engine since you don't know
how it was used etc... changing engines can be a hassle.. etc.. + you
need new tranny, different motor / tranny mounts etc.. but if i was doin
it.. i'd got for new engine.. more fun =)

Thats true..........
It's really hard to get a good engine unless you get one striaght from the
dealership. The guy at the dealership quoted me $2000.00 without the tranny.
So it's still gonna be a good deal. My other option is to go with the 1.6L
DOHC engine. I think thats a direct swap aswell but ytou don't have to
change trannies. With this engine swap the EL woould be a SIR EL...Well, I'm
still trying to weigh my options. If I get the new engine, I can swap most
of my parts onto it which would be nice. My big goal though is to swap out
the auto tranny and put in a 5-speed. Hem, I wonder if the TL's tranny would
fit with a little mod.......

Auto to stick eh?.. yeah i have the same prob.. wasn't too into
performance when i bought the car.. but i've been quoted about $5000,
for the 1.8L GSR engine + tranny, ecu etc.. installed from some places..
i can prolly get it cheaper if i really tried.. but i need to find some
work before i can afford that =).. and i'm afraid i need to goto the
states for some high payin work.. hopefully i'll get job in Cali.. home
of all those car places!!!

Good luck man finding a good paying job.......
Here in Calgary theres some decent places that have good engines and
trannies. This one guy I know got a GSR engine and tranny for his RS
integra. The damn thing is now turbochargered. ANd this other guy got a
tranny for his Supra. Don't know why the hell the guy got the Suprain auto
but he's got it in stick now. Going down to Cali for the cars ain't bad, but
it's more fun making a statement in Canada. People haven't seen carz like
suped up besides mustangs and shit. I guess I just like the attention and
compliments I get but I wanna bring my car down to Cali to do the interior
and get a bodykit built for me there.....
Oh well, I'm going down there this summer so I'll see what the carz I like.
But from the pics my friends bring back they all look the same to me.......
Laterz......

Heh dunno about calgary but here in van we got cars souped up to the
bageezers.. lots of imports.. teg type R engines swaped into hatchbacks
etc.. bodykits on ELs, lots of DOHC civics and i'm not talkin about
SiRs.. integras that have like 5cm of ground clearance (morons).. dunno
about those mustangs and stuff.. most of us just laugh at em cuz they
can't turn =)

I know what you mean.......
Lately, just in the past year it's been like crazy with imports. Whereever
you go you see an integra souped up or a civic. Man you see chicks with
souped up ass intergas. Damn, but oh well, it's just the trend for now.
Bodykit's on the EL, still haven't seen a pick yet of one except the one
with the mugen kit. I've heard stories about the guy with the Lancer kit. As
for me I'm getting a new bumper ordered in right now and haveing my
wingswest lip molded to it and refinishing the whole front. I'll take a pic
when it's done just to show everyone...........
Laterz.....

Cool.. i'm just gonna leave the body alone.. cept maybe add a front
skirt.. but i'm gonna go overkill on the performance stuff.. silent but
deadly!.. my goal is to be able to outhandle and outdrag a integra type
r.. especially one in the hands of a female driver!!.. yeah.. some chick
bought one and drive it at like 40kph... what a waste.. wish i had that
=P

Hey Volitaire,
The engine is the B18B - 1.8L DOHC non-vtec. Same year as the car so the
wiring was complicated but manageable. The engine was from a friend who's
moved up to a GSR power plant, I did the install myself with help from my
brother and Andrew DeLaCour, so the total cost is was VERY cheap, less than
the normal circumstances anyway.
