Hi all,
Would appreciate info on the accuracy of the 1.7 EL fuel gauge.
Just got the unit and noted that the pointer is at the 3/4 mark with
about 130 km. From the specs... city driving is 8lit/100km. Basing
on this .. am computing that I should be hitting 160+/- km on my
consumption.
Are these normal numbers? Thanks in advance.

It would be nearly impossible for you to achieve the mileage advertise in
the specs.
In my 1.6 EL I was getting average 9.5l/100km city and 7.0l/100 km hwy.
And the fuel gauge is not an accurate gauge for fuel consumption. The best
way is to fill up your tank , drive it for a few hundred km and refill to
see how much gas you use. Do this for a few months to determine an average.
Also the use of heater/AC will affect your mileage too.

Damn ... I use the heater a lot but only because I figured it would draw
extra heat from the engine and help keep it running cooler. So you're
saying that my actions have actually helped to increase fuel usage
now? Crap. =)
