This morning the car did not start in the first attempt. Its only 50 degrees here in the Bay Area - don't think it should be called 'cold'..any thoughts?

Did you insert the key and turn it to start right away, or let it sit in pos 1 (for all of about a second)? If you listen closely after turning the key - you will hear what sounds like a hum for a second or so. This is the fuel pump. These cars have an electric fuel pump, as opposed to mechanical. If you turn the key to start in one full motion, there may not be fuel up to the motor yet. Turn the key to position one, listen for the fuel pump noise, then turn the key to start. I'll have to listen next time I start my car - I *think* the fuel pump noise stops after a second or two, if so - then hit it. It has happened to me on occasion where it doesn't start immediately. I turn it back to off, to pos 1, then turn the key to "start". rick '02 TL-S

I did start it right away - I will wait for the fuel pump from now on...it is funny though, that it had to happen just once in a few months that I've had the car...

I don't think it has something to do with the weather being "cold". I am not sure about this, but could it be something wrong with the battery? Have you call your local dealership and maybe they have the answer for you. --CKL-- Metro Phoenix Area, AZ
