I just went to check my engine on my 01 Passport and pulled the hood release and nothing happened. where the cable connects in the car is still attached. the issue must be under the hood. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I did a little research on it and haven't found anything other than hacking open the hood to manually release it. Man I really don't want to go that far.

Is there a way to remove the grill and manully release the hood. Please tell me there is.

If it has broken under the dash, you should be able to grab the cable with pilers to open, if not accessible , you will have to try and access it from under the front of the car, even if you can locate the cable and pull it down enough to get hold of the inner cable , or you will just have to try and trip the latch with a long screw driver, your panel shop may be able to assist you here. Fitting a new cable will not be a problem .
