Hey all, my 95 Civic DX with an automatic
transmission and stock motor got totalled about a month ago.
It gave me a great 100K trouble-free miles for seven
years and I was about to reward it with some nice 16
in. rims when I got clipped in the rear quarter by
some idiot. I got an older Civic from a dealer with my
insurance check, a 93 Civic EX with over 120K miles for
$5500 but it's in great shape and it came with a 3
month/3K mile warranty. It's a five speed with a 1.6L
engine but not VTech though. Maybe I'm imagining but
this one seems to rev or sound more throaty than the
ones I've test drove with the VTechs (maybe it's the
exhaust). I bought it from a dealer who specializes in
selling used Hondas only and reconditions them and it has
all new belts, timing belt, seals, and other parts
which normally wear at 100K miles. It's fully
re-detailed, including the interior and engine bay. It's white
with a tan interior, which I find a strange
combination (usually I see tan interior with black exteriors
and grey interiors with white exteriors). I believe
it just needs an alignment with the new tires the
dealer gave me and he owes me the plastic inner wheel
well on the front driver side (slight oversight on my
part). I also need to upgrade the sound system, stock
stereo cassette with two front speakers only. I spent a
month looking for a white 93-95 Civic EX coupe and
what's funny is when I bought this one, which was the
first white one I came across after a month, I saw a
few more white EX's pop up in the ads later,
including a 95 EX Coupe at another dealer with less miles
(114K, mine has 122K) with grey interior which was
selling for $1K less than what I paid for mine ($4500,
sounds like a deal huh? paid $5500 for mine)! Such is
life, don't know about you guys but always seems to
happen to me. But I look forward to an enjoyable
experience with my "new" 93. I'll be posting pics soon. I
know this message is long already, but if you have any
comments on the deal I got (good or bad), considering it
came from a dealer, let me know. Thanks.
