Well first off you need a mount kit from HAS or Place Racing. This will get the motor in the car. Then you need to convert you cable clutch to hydro (also from HAS). Then you will need to get the axles right, and HAS or Place can give you info on this. Then you are down to the hardest part. The wiring!!!!! Your car is non OBD, and depending on the year of your 1.8, you will need to wire it according to the year. The easiest way to do this is to get the "in car harness" for the 1.8 you have, and take out your harness, and send it to HAS or Place, and they will combine the 2 harnesses to make you a "plug and play" harness. Once this is done then plug in your ecu, and go driving!!! You will need a ECU for the year of the 1.8.<br><br>Hope this helps!!<br><br>"Doesn't loooook fast does it?"

hey i'm going through the same thing, what do you need the ECU of the 1.8 for? I thought that with your plug and play harness, your ECU would work. Also why should the axles change? I have a '89 Civic dx, 4 door. and do you have HAS and Place Racing's Websites? thanks man...

Well you need the Ecu to match the motor. So you would need the 1.8 Ecu. The harness needs to be able to run to the motor, and still interface with the gauges, and other stuff from your chassis. With the "plug n play" harness, it will be wired for the 1.8 ecu. Your 1.5 ecu won't cut it, and it is a non OBD. What year is the 1.8? Is it a B18B, B18a, B18c? If your motor is a 92 or newer, it is an OBD system, and that is one of the reasons why you need the ecu for that motor. Not to mention the timing, injector pulse, fuel map/pressure, are some of the things that your 1.5 ecu won't handle. Also you don't have injectors on your 89. <br><br>If you are takeing the axles from a 90+ Integra, I am pretty sure the splines in the hub of your civic are smaller than the Integra ones, but I would ask HAS. <br><br>www.placeracing.com<br><br>www.hasport.com

thanks soooooo much, i went out and bought sports compact car magazine, and HAS was featured in a "Engine Swap Article." Also I called place and they don't do engine swaps anymore. HAP Recycling does though! www.haprecy.com they have everything I'll need to swap to a 1.8L for $1400. I think that buying a B16A1 would be a beter idea, what do you think?

Requirments for interchange b18a and b18b are a distributer from a 90-91 integra, drive lines will fit with the civic oem hubs, can use your 1.5 ecu as long as you have said distributer above, you will need either a profab shift linkage and motor mounts which you can get from scvmotorworks.com (pretty spendy though) or you can take the shift linkage out of an 90-93 integra the motor mounts will have to be bought or fabbed yourself.

Know what you're going through i'm doing the same thing to my civic. I found some books that might help and they have websites in the backs of them. I've done my homework on this and there isn't a whole lot you have to change over. If you have questions email me @ turtle1@....<br><br>List of Books:honda/acura performance vol. 1<br> Sport compact bolton performance vol1
