My dealer in MN quoted me a price of $375 for the basic alarm, plus
$100 for the hood latch on the 2002 EX. That includes installation
but not taxes (of course). So I said that the Honda website estimates
that the basic alarm should cost $300 with out the latch. "Would you
match that price?" I asked. To my surprise she said that I am
actually getting a deal because she forgot to include this $100
attachment piece which is included in this "security package". That
would bring the total to over $600 after taxes!

Does anyone know what this mysterious $100 attachment piece is? What
did everyone else pay for their alarms?

Have you checked www.hparts.com on those parts yet? They are anywhere from
40-60% of dealer list. I've used them on many occasions and highly
recommend them. Additionally,
http://www.handa-accessories.com/crvelect02.html had the security system for
$163 and the hood switch for $27.60.

He may be refering to the keyless entry system (that is required for the
security system), but you don't need that since you have an EX. Sounds like
your dealer is less than honest. Have him give you a part number and cost
listing of *everything* required for the alarm install.
